Ross Shepherd

PhD Student

Ross is a PhD student at the Department of Earth Sciences and St John’s College with an interest in fluid flows in industrial processes. His current research, supervised by Prof. Andy Woods, aims to develop simplified mathematical models to better understand and optimise geological carbon sequestration in deep saline aquifers. His other research interests include optimal control of fluid flows and thin film flows over curved surfaces. Before coming to Cambridge, Ross completed his undergraduate study in Chemical & Process Engineering and Mathematics, and master’s in Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Canterbury in his hometown of Christchurch, New Zealand.
