Dr Sophie Tobin
Research Associate
Sophie is a Research Associate in the Department of Earth Sciences. She is interested in geophysical fluid dynamics, with a particular focus on the use of simplified reduced physics models to gain insight into complex processes.
Her current research involves using mathematical models to understand the effects of uncertainty in geological properties at proposed carbon storage sites on the potential behaviour of CO2 following injection. She is also interested in glaciology and in particular the link between subglacial drainage processes and the deformation of the overlying ice.
