Emily’s PhD research focuses on underground carbon storage. In such systems, the data on the subsurface is often coarse; we cannot fully resolve the heterogeneity in permeability or the detailed caprock topography, for example. She is interested in trying to understand the uncertainty in plume dynamics that arise as a result of this.
