Prof. Alexander Routh
Professor
Alex is Professor of Colloid Science based at the Department of Chemical Engineering & Biotechnology. His research spans a range of physical science including encapsulation, friction modification, pattern formation during drying of dispersions, stratification and ordering in drying films, industrial process modelling with an aim of energy efficiency, neutron scattering and reflectivity. Recent work has examined drying of blood droplets with an aim to build cheap diagnostic devices.
Previously Alex was a Post-doc in the School of Chemistry and Bristol University and gained his PhD from the Chemical Engineering Department at Princeton University in the United States. He was a lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Sheffield University for 4 year before joining IEEF and Chemical Engineering at Cambridge in 2006.
