Sheila Bhatt

PhD Student

Sheila is a final year PhD student at IEEF, working on the dynamics of flow and deposition in droplets of human blood. She has returned to research after a career in industry, with an extensive background in technical, innovation and research management and a track-record in entrepreneurship. Her preference is for interdisciplinary challenges, exemplified by her choice of PhD subject of the biomechanics of blood for pre-diagnostics in low resource scenarios, which brings together aspects of colloid science, interfacial engineering, medical science and machine learning for biomedical applications. Prior to her PhD, she worked for Unilever Research, then with technology-driven startups developing sensors and systems for the energy-optimisation market.
